If you are in San Francisco, today( 9/11/16) is the reception for the Studio Gallery's "Delicious" group show, 2pm to 6pm There are a lot of great artists participating in the show. I know, I know, I am running behind schedule posting to my blog and posting to the "30 in 30" challenge! I do have images on Instagram and on Facebook if you want to see my previous efforts. This image is from my recent road trip to San Diego. We stopped in Carlsbad and walked the beach. It was a beautiful day with great weather!

This will be part of the "Delicious" show at Studio Gallery in the city. I posted it on Facebook last week and asked for suggestions on titles. All of the ones submitted were great! I haven't decided but here's my dilemma: Do I go with a fun, cutsy title or do I make it an inventory painting title? And then there are those titles that are not in either category. What are your thoughts? How do you title your work?

In my quest to become a better painter, I had the opportunity to take David Shevlino's 4 day workshop at the Carmel Visual Arts in Carmel, CA.  First, I would like to say what a generous and nice instructor David is. He was very accommodating to requests to demo or spend time individually with our paintings. He is a master painter and I came away with having a little more comfort with using a bigger brush and how to lose edges. BTW, the brushes he had on his materials list are from Rosemary & Co.  Painting the figure is good exercise for learning to paint everything else!

It's been awhile because our computer died. I think I figured out a work around with BlogPad Pro.

This year seems to be going by so fast. Maybe it's a whirl because of the many deadlines I am trying to meet. There are work deadlines, boat projects and of course artwork dates. There are a couple of shows I hope to enter this summer. One of them is the 59th Juried Exhibition at The Haggin Museum. It's a national exhibit (gulp!). It will be an honor if "Al" gets in.

I recently attended "Fresh Works" another juried show. Both of my paintings "Cafe" and "Dinner Party" were selected with "Dinner Party" receiving a merit award! It was an interesting reception. I think it was the first time I heard a judge, in this case, Richard Ambrose, talk about the selection process. He looked for skill and also work that spoke to him. What an honor it was to be there!

Mr. Ambrose is the executive director of the Richmond Art Center in Richmond, CA. There is a current exhibit (3/19-5/22/16) of Bay Area figurative artist David Park and there is no admission fee to the gallery!
