Can you see the difference? I thought my first version (top pic) was too saturated with the orange and pink ground. After seeing it online for a couple of days, I had to neutralize it more. What do you think?
Hi Kaethe, I can see a marked difference but can't really say for sure which version I prefer. A good sign that both versions are brilliant! Speaking of brilliant, your previous paintings also fit that category. Your roses are gorgeous and I love your nocturnal painting - it must be a tricky proposition to capture the light. I have never tried one myself but you have inspired me to consider it. Lovely work as always Kaethe!
OK, I'll surprise you and say I like the second one better too. The lovely neutral pavement really brings out the richness of the color in the trucks. Great decision!
If you prefer the second one, Kaethe, then you must be more of a tonalist at heart. They are both impeccable in the art quality department so personal taste is what makes the difference. The quality of your work is awesome.
The second one is better. I always have a problem with getting accurate color rendition. What photo editing software do you use? Do you take your photos outdoors? Your work reproduces very well.

Thanks Wendy. I am glad my version didn't bother you! I hope you try a nocturne! I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!
DeleteHi Kaethe, I agree with Wendy. I can see the difference but I don't know which I like best! You've paint such a wonderful subject so well.

ReplyDeleteI take photos of my work in the shade in daylight. So yes outdoors. I don't always have a steady hand but thanks!
