Day 30; Thanks for being along for the ride!

Well its finally here, my last day of the challenge. Thank you all so much for the encouragement! All of the 30 paintings will be part of a show in November. I am finalizing the details with the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton, CA.  I will be doing a talk there about the work. As long as you are not a heckler, please join me! I will be announcing those details in the near future!

Thank you Leslie Saeta for promoting these challenges! My challenge was to complete one painting a day. That is not always the case. I have done these where I just painted everyday until a painting was complete. Painting everyday or just painting consistently helps make you a better artist. I believe that for myself. It is what I have heard over and over again from the artists I have studied with. I still have a lot of mileage to put on my brush!

Day 28

Phil has to be one of the nicest people I have met by living on the water. He is usually out with his wife Janice but on this day, she was watching their grandchild. Phil would much rather talk about his grandchild than his work as a motion picture photographer. See his unbelievable photography here.

Its day 28!!!

I hope I didn't come across too much of a whiner yesterday. I truly have a lot to be grateful for and these challenges certainly have the benefit of making new connections which I truly appreciate.

This is a scene from a little clothing store on Monsarrat Ave in Honolulu.

Day 21

We made a pit stop in San Clemente the other weekend on our way home. We were fortunate to see great art, crafts and a farmer's market. This is from the orchid booth. I think I was drawn to the image because of the negative shapes.

Only 10 more days to go! On a recent venture to San Diego, I saw this house and car. I couldn't resist the light and shadow. I want to thank my art buddy Bruce Katz (great artist btw) who helped me select this last night as my next painting.

If you have been following my work, you know that I have been studying with Stanley Goldstein, Tim Horn and Peggi Kroll Roberts. Today, I channeled Peggi.

When I was home in May, I hung out with friends at their beach house. It was a beautiful day, just relaxing and talking story.

Day 17

The idea for this came from my break room conversation with the guys..."Have you ever thought of painting a hamburger?"  What better time than now?

Today was an art filled day! I went to the open studio at Las Positas College and then took a break from figure painting to attend Carolyn Lord's talk at the Grand Theatre in Tracy, CA. If you are local. its a wonderful show to see. I learned a lot about the inspiration for Carolyn's work. The history of the area and how we use our space was compelling  in Carolyn's talk. I didn't know that Tracy was a railroad town or that Livermore was on Russia's hit list as the second target after DC during the Cold War. Learn more about Carolyn's exhibit "Local Presence".
