Some Updates

"Shoreline"

7x7
acrylic on panel

This summer and fall proves to be an even busier time than I planned but its a good thing!
Commissions have certainly kept me busy and I am grateful for those collectors! Thank you!
I have sold paintings from social media as well, so thank you Facebook and Instagram!

There are 2 shows coming up, "The Tiny Show" at  Studio Gallery in San Francisco 11/10-12/23/17. I'll have several small works there. This is always a great show! There's nothing larger than 7x7 and all work is $500 or less. Click here for more info.

I am very happy to announce that there will be a 2 person show. . Sylvie Carr, who has been my art pal and is a wonderful artist, and  myself will be exhibiting at the Indigo Yoga and Pilates Studio. The show will start on November 18th. I'll be posting more details soon.

You can also view several of my paintings at the Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA.

I am also very excited about enrolling in the Savvy Painter's Growth Studio. This is a course designed to help artists clarify direction , refine skills and build their business. The deadline to sign up is tomorrow 10/20/17. You can learn more by clicking the link here: Growth Studio.

I really appreciate your support! Thank you for being here!

Its been awhile...

"City Center"
12x12 acrylic on panel

Have I been neglecting my blog?  Most definitely! Thanks for hanging in there with me as I try to manage needing 25 hours in a day.

I haven't posted since March and a lot has been happening since that time; I went to the Plein Air Convention held in San Diego in April. What a blast! I was able to meet so many artists that have been internet friends! What an energizing experience! I am especially grateful to meet up with one of my favorite podcasters savvypainter.com 's Antrese Wood. If you are an artist or just want to listen to how artists make their work, Antrese conducts very interesting and thought provoking interviews.

I have been painting for a couple of galleries and doing commissions. You can currently see my work at Studio Gallery  and Valley Art Gallery. Also, I post my latest works on Instagram. I have to say its one of my favorite social medias to use...of course. Its visual and I am an artist, right? You can find me by this ...

Marina Day

10x8
oil on panel

Yesterday was "Marina Day" here at Emeryville Marina. I was honored to be invited as a participating artist. It was an overcast day. I am happy to report that although I was out of my comfort zone, painting in front of other people AND on a day without good light and shadow, it was a really nice experience. I enjoyed meeting new people, other artists, children and my marina neighbors! The biggest compliment I got was from a young boy who wanted to buy my painting. He was an artist too. What a thrill!

Meet Rudy

6x6
acrylic on cradled panel

Rudy is one of my latest commissions.
I tried uploading my little slideshow I made on Flipogram but because I am technology challenged, I wasn't able to. I did post it on Instagram and Facebook.

I do LOVE Instagram! That is probably not surprising since its such a visual platform. Its a great way for me to check out what other artists are doing or looking at travel images or movie stars. Love seeing Dwayne Johnson! You can follow me @kaethe_bealer.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Cat on the Table: Final Version

16x12
Oil on cradled panel
The challenge on this painting was figuring out how to put color is such a neutral scene. Obviously the table cloth had its own yellow fiesta. Little color notes were put into items on the counter, pot on the stove and chair covers.

This painting was accepted into the Tracy Art League Expressions Show. See it in-person starting 2/17 through 2/24. Click here for the Expressions page.

Have a great weekend! We finally have some sunshine here in California!.

Confession and new paintings...

Marina at Dusk
24x24
acrylic on cradled panel

Night Swim
8x8
acrylic on cradled panel
It really was my intention to paint everyday this month even if it meant painting consistently on one painting versus 30 paintings. So here is my confession...I DIDN'T DO IT! You know how it is, life gets in the way. So I apologize to anyone who had that expectation. On the bright side, I have been busy this weekend. I finished up on 2 paintings. They will be part of the upcoming "Night Light" show at Studio Gallery.

A special shout out to Els Manning for letting me use this image of her daughter Aubri! You can follow Els on Instagram. I am there too!

Day 11

Staedtler Fine Point pen

I work full time as a dialysis social worker. Whenever a patient has a successful surgery for their access and gets their catheter taken out we give them a little "shower gift". The little rubber ducky and soap is part of it. When the catheter gets taken out, its safe to shower again! So this is why its my lunch time sketch. I have these in my office. The pens too!

Days 9 and 10

drawing with pen

I know of many artists who sketch before deciding on a painting. If you ever meet up with Tim Horn ask to see his sketches. Peggi Kroll Roberts has beautiful contour drawings of figures. Their studies are fantastic. I am trying to get into better habits and one of them is sketching. Drawing is a very basic skill that is an essential element to a painting. I have heard many critiques on paintings that point to an incorrect drawing. I can tell what I am going to need to work on here!

Days 4 through 8, "Bobbing for Pumpkins"

16x12
acrylic on cradled panel

I think I am done. I continue to paint everyday, That is my challenge for these 30 days in January. I have been in love with this image for a long time. I will be taking this into my critique class with Tim Horn in the next 2 weeks. I won't be putting my signature on until then. I have 3 other paintings that I am working on and I have a life drawing/painting session coming up next weekend. In short, more to come!

Click here to see other works in the "30 in 30".

Happy 2017 and "January 30 Days of Painting"

I signed up for Leslie Saeta's "30 in 30" Challenge this month. I am doing it differently this time around.  The last challenge was held in September and I used all 30 paintings for a show at the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton, CA. Thank you to those who came out and saw the exhibit and to those who purchased my work! So back to my January challenge. I will be painting everyday but not on 30 separate paintings. I will be working on paintings that I am getting ready for shows, competitions and commissions. I still hope to get a lot of mileage to better my skills. I won't be posting everyday but rather periodically for finished or significant progress shots.

This is a painting that I am working on "Cat on the Table". I started it several weeks ago but worked on it for Day 1. This is a scene from my cousin's kitchen. She fosters cats and finds them new homes. They kind of have the run of the house as you can see. The cat's name is "Seven" the shape of the stripe on it's back.
