acrylic on cradled panel

I put what I think are the final touches on this today. We had an assignment from Tim Horn at our last critique class; paint what's on your table. Ok, I did buy this for lunch specifically thinking it would be a "pretty" table top item. Since I live on a was what was put on my stove top. The stove top acts as dish drainer, dog treat holder and prep surface. I do actually cook on it as well. I love sushi. Give me some soy sauce and wasabi!

acrylic on cradled panel
There were many things about this  that captured my attention; the light, the figures and that pink skirt. I have been meaning to paint this from a series of photos I did while I ventured around the city. If I station myself in one place for awhile and take pics, eventually I'll get something.

The Sitting Room

acrylic on cradled panel

It pays to know people who live in turn of the century homes and have cats that pose for you. Incredibly, Benny looked right at me when I was taking photos. He is not the total star here but there will be upcoming paintings where his character will dominate the scene.

This painting is available at the Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA.

The Bassets are Waiting

acrylic on cradled panel

I could not resist the light and shadow in this. Dogs are one of my favorite things to paint!
