Studio Models

7x7
acrylic on cradled panel

Sold

I study with 3 great artists on a fairly consistent basis. Stanley Goldstein almost every Monday night. Tim Horn once a month for critiques and at least once a year with Peggi Kroll Roberts. Perhaps you see Peggi's influence here. Well, at least you see her daughter Ali in the forefront.
I brought this little painting into our critique session this past Monday. I won't state what I thought I needed to correct but it was suggested by Tim to do this as a larger work. I think I will!

If you are interested, I have 2016 desk calendars for sale. You can email me, kaethebealer@yahoo.com  or go to my DailyPaintworks page to purchase for $10.

Side Tie Reflection

7x7
acrylic on cradled panel

sold

When I come home, I walk down a ramp and this is what I see to my left. I don't think I truly captured the sense of light and reflection that captured me but its my "go" at it.

If you are in San Francisco this weekend, come by the Studio Gallery for the "TINY SHOW" reception, 1pm to 6pm.  Everything is 7x7 or smaller. There is a "HUGE" counterpart as well.

Front Yard Roses

7x7
acrylic on 1.5" cradled panel
sold

If you are a friend of mine, then you know I am annoying! Whenever someone tells me they are traveling or going to a function, I don't say "Have a good time!", I say "Take pictures!" My friend Kristie is always on the lookout for subject matter for me. She recently took this shot in her neighborhood. Apparently, she takes her assignment seriously! Thank you Kristie!

My friend Birgit used to live in a hundred year old house. I loved the interior. I have been lucky enough for her to occasionally pass on photographs that I have used as reference material. This is one of those shots!

Picking Wildflowers

7x7
acrylic on cradled panel

This image caught my eye when I was perusing the Paint My Photo site. I think my challenge here was to keep the facial features from being exaggerated. I have to remember to back up and observe what I am doing.

Day 22: Decorative Hawk

2.5x3.5
acrylic on canvas

I think it's interesting how mother nature can produce her own sense of design. The branches framed the hawk so well. This is a reference from my cousin Theresa who should have her own website or blog.

Day 21: Hawk

3x3
acrylic on canvas

This was fun to do with the shapes from the branches. This is another reference from Theresa  :-)

Day 20: Bird on Branch

Today was a day I was glad I invested in some teeny tiny brushes. To protect myself from eye strain, I tried not to make it too detailed. This image comes from my cousin Theresa. She takes awesome nature pics!

Day 10: Ballerina 3

3x3

I think figures are challenging, especially on the foreshortened arms. I haven't decided if the head is too big. This is all about learning and having fun anyway..

Day 5; Horse in Pasture study.

2.5x3.5
acrylic on canvas

Its day 5 and I started this, this morning and also worked on a commission. Its the holiday weekend and lots of excitement here at the marina! No parking and got to see a boat whack into another one...oh the pain of it all! Maybe my horse series has something to do with land envy! Don't get me wrong, I do love it here!

My niece Aimee has always been generous with her photographic skills and her kids! Aimee is truly creative. We collaborated on a children's book this last year; "My FIFO Daddy" . It is geared toward families who have parents that "fly in and fly out" to remote mining posts in Australia.

You can see some of Aimee's photography by clicking here.

I am hosting the weekly challenge on dailypaintworks.com.

Sometimes when I am working on a larger painting that is taking time, I have to take a break and paint something small, fast and furious. I loved the light and dark pattern the reference photo had (morgueFile.com).
