Enough about me, well sort of . . .

When you are an artist, most of the time, most of your friends and family won't tell you when you suck. Sometimes that's ok, especially when I am having those vulnerable days. This is Nancy Roberts. She is a wonderful artist and teacher. She has given me honest feedback throughout the 8+ years I have known her and taken from her. She has been so encouraging and has opened the door to shows and galleries that I might not have ventured towards. I saw her yesterday at the Scene on the Straits and was reminded of how I have grown as an artist from her support. I think we all need a"Nancy Roberts" in our lives. At least I do and I am so grateful.

  1. Kudos to you for passing credit on where due. I am sure Nancy will be pleased.
What I really like when I checked her work is that you do not paint like her - so you kept your own voice even though she has been a big influence. Shows me she is a good teacher. Your work is fabulous!

  2. I, too, hope to be an artist when I grow up. Thanks, Kaethe, for being such a wonderful student/teacher/friend!

  3. I completely agree with Julie, Kaethe.
Everyone NEEDS a Nancy in their lives. An honest evaluation/critique is very hard to come by in the blogging world...and it is so very valuable! I think political correctness rules. I know it often influences my own comments.
I guess email is the way to go...any takers??? Lol

    1. Nancy just became a member of DPW. She definitely has a good eye! Honest feedback that contains both the weaknesses and strength of work isn't usually seen on blogs. I actually think that is good because unless the person really is open to the feedback, hurt feelings are likely. Maybe that is why there are specific critique sites that you can submit your work to. Oh the vulnerability of being an artist and being out there!
