The Untitled Bird Feeder Painting

6x12
acrylic on cradled panel

This will be part of the "Delicious" show at Studio Gallery in the city. I posted it on Facebook last week and asked for suggestions on titles. All of the ones submitted were great! I haven't decided but here's my dilemma: Do I go with a fun, cutsy title or do I make it an inventory painting title? And then there are those titles that are not in either category. What are your thoughts? How do you title your work?

  1. Gosh, this is awfully good, Kaethe. The composition is just great, and every element is painted with your usual fine skill. I especially like the reflection on the bottom of the feeder. You've rendered it completely 'right' and recognizable! It just makes me smile. As to titling, I'd have to say I'm intuitive-in-the-moment, and not above a silly pun or two. That said, when lacking inspiration, I've resorted the 'jug and grapes' sort of name. Very best luck for your show.

  2. Nice painting Kaethe. I'll be someone suggested Waiting in Line. I don't think that is too cute.

  3. Its a wonderful painting Kaethe whatever you decide to name it. Naming is challenging to be sure. Waiting in Line is a good one!! Good luck. Looking forward to the show!
