Roses in Hawaii

acrylic on gessoed panel

I am visiting with my folks here in Aiea (close to Pearl Harbor). Its ironic that I am here to help with the Manoa Orchid Show and I am painting roses. Maybe when I get back to the mainland I will paint something tropical....its only fair you know.

  1. I think my memory of seeing your work for the first time was of a rose and it knocked my socks off. Your use of value and color is brilliant. Love this.
Orchids are really lovely and hope to see you paint some.

  2. Beautiful color shifts among the delicate petals, Kaethe!

  3. Kaethe, no wonder Julie's first sight of your work knocked her socks off if it looked anything like this one! This is GORGEOUS!
How wonderful to be in Hawaii to visit your parents, I wish it wasn't so far away from here. It is on my bucket list! Will look forward to seeing your orchid paintings. It reminds me that I haven't done any paintings of the orchids I photographed in Singapore last year! Enjoy your holiday!!
