Lincoln's Values

6x6
acrylic on panel
I can hear my instructor Stanley saying to me "No cutesy titles allowed". I couldn't help myself Stanley. As I was painting this, besides hearing my own voice saying this is too dark or that shape is off...I was thinking, here is a man who really didn't have the time or didn't care about smoothing down his hair or making his tie straight. He had more important things to attend to.

    1. Thanks Sue. I am still pondering the accuracy of his head. I'll sit with it for awhile before I go back and make any changes. It is a learning process!

  2. Kaethe this portrait caught my eye. Not only do I really like your work, but I chose this same photo to paint a few years ago! I looked at your blog, and saw several artist you have listed such at Roos S. and Timothy Horn….of whom I admire! How lucky you are to be in CA and have such access to so many wonderful painters. I am not familiar with Stanley Goldstein, but I will look up his work.
