Day 27, Hummingbird

You know how you feel when you have an off day? I feel that way about this painting but because I don't have time to paint something else, here it is. Thanks for looking! 4x4 acrylic on gessobord.

  1. I know exactly how you feel Kaethe! I had one of those days today too, and I also didn't have time to try another. However, there is still something very sweet about your little hummingbird even if you didn't feel in top form. You've captured some very pretty colours! Are hummingbirds local to San Francisco? Seeing a hummingbird in real life is on my bird-spotting bucket list!!

    1. There are lots of hummingbirds around here but I am not sure if they are an indigenous species. Thank you for those kind words. I am trying to keep my motivation up!

  2. Very familiar with the loss of super powers on a regular basis.
It feels like falling...but then you get up and paint something that puts the world in correct order again.

    1. So true. You have to have wipers in order to get to the winners :)

  4. I like your hummingbird. The blur in the wings gives a feeling of flight.

  5. I certainly wouldn't classify this as an "off" day. You've captured this one very well!

  6. The level of painting skill in this painting is very high so what little voice was working in your head? Was it the dreaded - it HAS to be perfect - one? Maybe it was the one which had a different idea of how it should look OR maybe... I fight many of these voices too so I understand when you admit to not being satisfied. Please still know that YOU could not do a bad painting.
What is so true...the more we know the harder it gets!

  7. Thank you Nancy, Adlib and Julie. I don't think I ever reach total satisfaction on anything I do but that is the drive, isn't it? Just as you say Julie, the more you know the harder it gets.
