I was a little panicked last night, as I had no idea what to paint for today. I ran across the photo reference for this at Wet Canvas. I had wanted to paint a bee but couldn't find an image that would work. So here is the end of my efforts for today. I got up at 5am and finished at 8:00am. Happy Sunday! There's only 1 more day left of the challenge. 4x4 acrylic on gessobord. Sold.
i am always struck by how beautiful your colors and in the light and shadow. The cool pink shadows are perfect!
ReplyDeleteA good idea to try wet canvas. I must remember that. And how are you feeling about only having one more day?
I am feeling relieved! But also sad. The pace is really something. I don't know how Lisa Daria does it. She paints and post every single day. I know you are prolific as well Julie. I look forward to seeing more!
DeleteLove it. I did a painting similar to this in watercolor a few years ago. I think my butterfly faced the other way though and my reference photo did not have as much of the flower as your painting has. Yours came out very good. Caught my eye from the thumbnails on Leslie's page.
ReplyDeleteThank you Liana. I added to flower in the background to give this more balance. The way I cropped the photo did not work 100%
DeleteGlorious work Kaethe! The colours on the flower and butterfly are so pretty and vibrant, and you've got such perfection in the simple brush strokes! Love the background too, while simplified, it hints at the depth and complexity of the foliage behind. One to go now!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy! Your work is just beautiful.
DeleteVery Pretty! I love the colors!!
ReplyDeletethank you Lynette. I still didn't get the pink right but made it work with what I could come up with. :)
