Day 2, Rose #2

This is #2 for the 30 day challenge but it also #2 of 3 of my little rose series. I think painting roses teaches me subtlety. Petals transition going from light to shadow but don't lose color. I am learning and having fun in the process! This is a 4x4 acrylic on wood panel. Click here if you are interested in bidding on it at the Daily Paintworks auction site.  Happy Labor Day!

  1. Ooh! This just popped up on my blog list! Kaethe, this is stunning!! I love the muted colours and the way you've captured the sunshine. Great contrast with the background. Beautiful!

  2. P.S. When I said "muted" I think I meant "subtle" - because you certainly didn't lose any colour - the pinks are gorgeous!

    1. Thanks. That is actually something I am trying to work on...how to make things read but not lose color.
